18th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas LNG 18

Perth, Western Australia welcomed 18th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas LNG 18, the world's most prestigious liquefied natural gas conference and exhibition, held Monday 11-15 April 2016 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Over 4000 delegates and exhibitors attended this week-long event and were welcomed by the Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP and the previous Premier of Western Australia, the Hon. Colin Barnett MLA.

LNG 18 showcased Western Australia's status as one of the world's leading gas industry hubs and the major role that LNG plays in Australia's economy.

PCB, along with its Major Partner, the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, and Arinex as the Professional Conference Organiser, lead a significant team-focussed bidding effort with major support from the Department of State Development, AGIT, City of Perth, Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA), and industry gas giants including Woodside Energy and Chevron Australia to develop the bid on behalf of Australia.

PCB Chairman, Ian Laurance, said “the LNG 18 convention and exhibition was a marvellous success and it clearly demonstrates that Perth has the capacity to hold more large-scale conventions in the future”.

Due to world market conditions, the number of delegates has softened somewhat, however in terms of size of conventions, LNG 18 was one of the largest ever held in Perth. Counting direct delegates, contractors, suppliers, event and security staff, some 6,000 people have had an involvement with LNG 18, and the direct benefit to the Western Australian economy has been calculated at fifty million dollars.

“The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) and the Professional Conference Organiser, Arinex, are to be congratulated for delivering a superb outcome featuring delegates and exhibitors from over 60 countries” Ian said. The temporarily expanded PCEC coped extremely well for such a large event and PCEC Centre Management had excellent support from many Government agencies.
