Mandurah is a vibrant regional city nestled by the Indian Ocean and the expansive waterways of the Peel-Harvey Estuary. Located just 70km south of Perth and 85km from the Perth International Airport, Mandurah is within a one hour drive of Perth. And, from the Perth CBD it’s just a 48 minute train ride.
Mandurah is popular for its beautiful waterways and outdoor lifestyle and over recent years has grown from a small seaside town to a lively, cosmopolitan city with over 60,000 residents.
The Mandurah Performing Arts Centre is state of the art and showcases a range of talent. Popular pursuits include a cruise on the estuary, fishing, swimming and dolphin spotting. Indulging in local seafood in one of the many waterside restaurants is also a must.
Day One
Depart Perth in your luxury coach. As you head south, visit Rockingham Wild Encounters, take the plunge and come face to face with inquisitive, wild dolphins. Rockingham Wild Encounters provides you with the expertise and knowledge to be able to swim with the dolphins. Next, take a glass bottom boat for the short trip to Penguin Island. Delight in seeing the local sea lion colony swim about your boat. The star attraction of the islands is its abundant wildlife. Penguin Island is home to Western Australia's largest colony of Little Penguins (the smallest penguins in the world!). Approximately 600 pairs nest on the island but spend most of their day feeding in the waters of the marine park.
From Rockingham continue south to Mandurah for lunch overlooking the Peel Inlet at one of the local fish and chip cafés on the Boardwalk.
Overnight, choose from the many hotels in Mandurah such as Forté Mandurah Quay, The Sebel Mandurah, Seashells Resort Mandurah. Be sure to indulge in a mouth watering fresh seafood dinner of local blue swimmer crabs, or fresh fish of the day.
Day Two
Take a cruise down the Peel-Harvey Estuary onboard Mandurah Ferry Cruises, pass through the new Ocean Marina and magnificent mansions that line the Port Mandurah Canals and out to the Creery Wetlands wildlife reserve with the diverse marine life that inhabits its waters. Pods of local dolphins often frolic alongside the boat and play in its wake, while the friendly crew takes pride in providing informative and entertaining commentary.
Home to many artists and art groups, Mandurah buzzes with creative energy. Visit the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre to explore a local art exhibition or take in a show playing at the theatre.
Visit local boutique winery Raven Wines Restaurant for a gourmet lunch, with handcrafted wines matched to your meal before a leisurely afternoon drive back to Perth.
