Broome Climate

Broome in the State’s North West has a tropical climate with hot and humid summers and warm winters. There are two distinct seasons: the ‘wet’ usually from December to March and the ‘dry’ for the remainder of the year.

Broome winters are mild, with July average maximum and minimum temperatures being 26.9°C and 12.0°C respectively. Overnight temperatures rarely fall below 5.0°C and only fall below 10°C about once a week during July on average.  By contrast, from October to April maximum temperatures average over 33°C while overnight temperatures are a typically warm 26°C in the summer months. Over 75 per cent of the average annual rainfall falls from January to March. The median annual rainfall is 532mm over an average of 44 days.

Margaret River Climate

The climate in the Margaret River Region is Mediterranean/maritime, with mild winters and temperate summers. Due to the proximity to two oceans and two local rivers, temperatures above 32°C are rare in summer, and temperatures in winter vary anywhere between a minimum of 11°C and a maximum of 18°C, making for favourable weather throughout most of the year. Most rainfall occurs between the months of April and October with an annual average rainfall of 982mm.
