PCB wins 'Marketing & Design Excellence' category at WA Industry & Export Awards

October 17, 2011

Perth Convention Bureau (PCB) has received the ‘Marketing and Design Excellence Award’ as part of the Western Australian Industry & Export Awards, the State's most prestigious business awards.

In its 23rd year the Western Australian Industry & Export Awards, coordinated by the Department of Commerce, recognise and honour the ‘best of the best’ in Western Australia and their ability to reach new foreign markets.

At Friday night’s gala dinner at the Hyatt Regency Perth, the Bureau was acknowledged for its innovative marketing activities that promote Perth and Western Australia as a business events destination, encompassing conventions, exhibitions and incentive travel groups.

The business events industry is worth $1.6 billion to the State and this financial year business events are expected to inject more than $102 million into the State’s economy. Since 1972 PCB has been responsible for marketing Perth and Western Australia as a business events destination to interstate and international delegates.

PCB’s Chief Executive Officer Paul Beeson said: “It is fantastic to be recognised by the State for the work we do in attracting the lucrative conference dollar to Western Australia. The Bureau is committed to delivering innovative marketing plans and initiatives that will only serve to strengthen the local economy; we’re thrilled to receive this prestigious award.

“We’re foremost a membership and stakeholder organisation so huge thanks goes to our local membership base, Tourism Western Australia, the City of Perth and Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre for their continued support as we approach our 40th anniversary in 2012,” he adds.

PCB’s award submission demonstrated that they had identified clear target markets for Western Australia, accurately determined client needs and perceptions, and incorporated this information into their marketing plan. Finalists were also judged on the evidence of innovation, creativity, and ingenuity in the development and execution of marketing projects, campaigns and initiatives.
