Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Everything we do as individuals has an impact on our environment - therefore protecting the environment is important to us all.

As the peak body in Western Australia for the business events industry, Perth Convention Bureau (PCB) is taking a pro-active role in its corporate social responsibility and in particular its environmental policy.

PCB has established a "green team" to implement its action plan as outlined in our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.

Following PCB's success in 2009 and 2010 in passing the requirements for benchmarking through the Earthcheck (formerly Green Globe) evaluation process, we  achieved Bronze accreditation in the Administration Office category for those periods.

In 2010 we also identified a need from within our membership to understand green issues that affect our industry - and a Green Credentials forum was held at Perth Zoo.   We worked closely with Green Globe, and PCB members Carbon Conscious and Perth Zoo to develop the forum structure.

Presenters included Mark Olsen, EarthCheck; Peter Balsarini, Carbon Conscious and Carol Shannon, the Perth Zoo.

A copy of the presentation slides can be viewed here

If you are interested in finding out more about your carbon footprint, please take a look at the Carbon Calculator managed by Carbon Conscious.

Since 2007, Perth Convention Bureau has also offset motor vehicle and travel emissions through Carbon Neutral.

Our donation has been allocated to site 84, Merredin, a 5.6 hectare site planted with oil mallee seedlings.  Whilst the seedlings are small they will grow rapidly over the next few years and in the event that the site survival rate is too low, Carbon Neutral will infill with seedlings.

PCB is undertaking a review and assessment of alternative accreditation options in 2011.
