Iconic hotels undergo upgrades
Two iconic Perth hotels have recently undergone extensive refurbishment programs.
The Metro Hotel Perth
has completed a $3.5 million renovation of all 94 of their
accommodation rooms and opened a new restaurant Chez Metro, offering
diners modern French and European cuisine.
Situated on the south side of the river and overlooking
the Perth city skyline the Metro Hotel Perth has seven conference rooms
and a seating capacity of 200 people.
Similarly the historic Tradewinds Hotel
in Fremantle is currently refurbishing all of its 83 self-contained
apartment hotel rooms and work is expected to be complete by mid 2010.
The refurbishment will complement the new contemporary style of the
recently unveiled alfresco dining and bar areas which can cater for up
to 300 people cocktail style.
The upgrades are a positive indicator that existing hotel
inventory in Perth continues to maintain the highest level of quality.

Major business event infrastructure projects on track
Progress on two exciting business event infrastructure
developments, the new Perth Arena and Perth Airport expansion project,
remains on track.
Work is well underway on the $483 million Perth Arena which will be
Perth's new, state-of the-art multipurpose indoor entertainment and
sports venue. Due for completion in 2011, the venue will seat a minimum
of 12,000 people for sporting events, 14,000 for concerts and boast 500
corporate seats. The arena floor will also be available for banquets of
up to 1,000 people.
Meanwhile plans to construct a new domestic terminal, 'Terminal
WA', at Perth Airport are expected to commence in 2010 and be completed
by early 2012. The redevelopment and expansion of the International
Terminal is also expected to be completed in 2012.
All passenger services will eventually be consolidated into one
airport precinct, airport roads will be improved and two new airport
hotels and a multi level car park will be constructed. The airport
developments are part of a 10 year, $2.4 billion master plan to upgrade
Perth's aviation infrastructure.
Work has already begun at the domestic terminal to enable
construction of the new facilities. Minimal levels of disruption may be
caused and visitors are advised to visit the Perth Airport website for more information.
